Cancun Non-Stop Ready To Fly From Lansing

Return

The first of 15 weekly Apple Vacations international flights from Lansing's Capital Region International Airport to Cancun, Mexico is scheduled to fly this Sunday, December 27, 2009, departing at 3:20 p.m.  All 168 seats on the USA3000 Airlines A320 aircraft will be filled with passengers on this first flight.  Seats are still available on the Lansing-Cancun flights through April 4, 2010 with prices starting at just $549* for seven all-inclusive nights, which includes round-trip air, airport/hotel transfers, hotel accommodations, hotel taxes and baggage handling, all meals, unlimited drinks, non-motorized watersports and other entertainment.

"This historic inaugural international charter flight from Lansing is sold out, but Apple Vacations is offering great deals throughout the winter travel season from Lansing to Cancun and Riviera Maya," said Robert Selig, Executive Director of the Capital Region Airport Authority.  "We expect Mexico to be a hot travel destination in 2010."

Apple Vacations is the world's largest vacation company to Mexico, and is the first company to offer international flights since the U.S. Customs Inspection Station opened at the Lansing Airport in late May.

"Apple Vacations is very pleased with the response to our new service from Lansing to Cancun," said Mark Noennig, Vice President and General Manager of Apple Vacations. "Lansing is a great alternative for Midwesterners who prefer the convenience of plentiful, inexpensive airport parking, hassle-free check-in and security, and fast and easy baggage claim."

The Capital Region International Airport recently opened a new $4.3 million, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Federal Inspection Station.  The Capital Region International Airport is now the only international airport in Michigan outside Detroit with a full-service U.S. Customs and Border Protection Inspection Station.  The new inspection station is capable of processing up to 200 international airline passengers per hour.  In recent years, the Capital Region International Airport has been the site of nearly $20 million in airport improvement projects that included extending the main airport runway to 8,500 ft.
