AUTHORITY VOTES TO CHANGE AIRPORT NAME TO CAPITAL REGION INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Capital Region Airport Authority voted today to officially change the name of Lansing’s Capital City Airport to the Capital Region International Airport. The Authority also approved several important airport improvement projects including an extension of the primary runway, land acquisitions and planning for a new terminal building which all totals more than $11.32 million in federal, state and local investment. The State of Michigan must still approve a Capital Outlay budget in order for federal funds to flow to the airport.

Regional Business Travel Trust Celebrates 200th Member Milestone

A broad based coalition organized in 2004 to support air service development efforts at Capital City Airport has surpassed 200 members. The Regional Business Travel Trust (RBTT) was formed as a joint program of the Capital Region Airport Authority with assistance from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC).

New Non-Stop Flights to Start From Lansing's Capital City Airport to Ireland

Shamrock Express, a new leisure air travel service, today announced the planned start of regularly scheduled non-stop flights beginning this summer between Lansing’s Capital City Airport and Shannon, Ireland.  The new service will begin flying June 25, 2008 and offer roundtrip airfares between Lansing and Ireland starting at just $799 per person.
