Capital Region Airport Authority Board of Directors
Names Robert Benstein as Interim CEO

LANSING, Mich.—(Dec. 16, 2019)—The Capital Region Airport Authority (CRAA) Board of Directors today named Robert Benstein, who has nearly 35 years of airport experience, as its interim Chief Executive Officer.

The CRAA Board of Directors also established a search committee dedicated to identifying a permanent CEO for THE Authority, which operates the Capital Region International Airport (LAN), Port Lansing, and Mason Jewett Field.

CRAA Board Chair John Shaski said that Benstein will provide a steady hand as the growing airport continues to expand.

“Robert is an experienced and trusted member of the LAN family,” Shaski said. “We are excited to move forward with Rob at the helm as we work to identify the right person to lead us into an exciting new era.”

Benstein had been serving as Quality and Compliance director for the Capital Region International Airport. He has been with the Airport since August 2015 when he joined the team as the Director of Operations.

Benstein holds an Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) Certification, and is the former chair of the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) Public Safety & Security Committee. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the talented LAN team and serve in this capacity, and I look forward to supporting a convenient, friendly and safe experience for all our visitors,” Benstein said.

The Board met and took the vote at its December meeting, which followed the opening of the airport’s new Market Twenty 4 Seven, an automated, micro market open to all visitors of the airport.
