Capital Region Airport Authority Announces Promotion of Steve Gonzalez to Director of Operations & Public Safety

LANSING, Mich. — The Capital Region Airport Authority (CRAA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Gonzalez to Director of Operations & Public Safety, expanding his leadership responsibilities across the Authority’s airport operations and public safety functions.
In his new role, Gonzalez will provide leadership and oversight for airport operations while continuing to lead the Authority’s Public Safety Department. He will help ensure operations at Capital Region International Airport (LAN) and Mason Jewett Field remain safe, efficient, compliant and aligned with the Authority’s strategic priorities.
“Steve has demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to the safety, security and successful operation of our airports,” said Nicole Noll-Williams, C.M., President and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Authority. “His operational knowledge, leadership and commitment to our employees, passengers, tenants and aviation partners make him well suited for this expanded role. This promotion is a reflection of the confidence we have in Steve and our continued commitment to developing strong leaders from within our organization.”
Gonzalez’s expanded responsibilities will also strengthen coordination across departments and support the Authority’s efforts to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of its airports while preparing for future growth and development.
As Chief of Public Safety, Gonzalez has played a key role in leading the Authority’s public safety operations and ensuring the airports maintain a strong focus on safety and security. His expanded role brings together operational and public safety leadership to further support collaboration and coordination throughout the organization.
